Sweet Music

A quick reminder to parents: Ask your kids for permission before you borrow their copy of Sugarbeats: 21 Really Cool Songs. Sure, you'll think you bought it for them. But almost every song on this album will be a welcome blast from just about any baby boomer's past.
Sugarbeats' lead singer, Sherry Goffin Kondor, knows that wherever children's music is played, an adult's ears are never far away. She is, after all, a mother of two. With that in mind, she set out to create a collection of songs as fun and involving for parents as they were for kids. Kondor's own parents, the legendary Carole King and Gerry Goffin, were no doubt test subjects for this successful project.

Her source material spans the best of the boomer years: "Big Yellow Taxi," "Shout," "Wipe Out," "Hit the Road Jack" and (somebody wake me up 'cause I must be dreaming) even "Do Wah Diddy." At the very least, many of these songs will serve as conversation starters between you and your kids. "Hey, Mom? What's a 'go-go' and can we go to one?" Good luck.
